Microimplants

MICROIMPLANTS

Microimplants are miniscrews with a diameter of ca. 1.5-2.0 mm that we use to obtain absolute anchorage. What does it mean? We only move those teeth that we want and exactly where we want. This means that we skip Newton’s third principle of dynamics!

Similarly as microimplants we can use prosthetic implants (provided that prosthetic reconstruction of the missing teeth is planned after the completion of the orthodontic treatment).

Such additional elements that we place directly in the jawbone or mandible bone to move the teeth are called skeletal anchorage.
